I wear shoes that are comfortable; my car's not really new
I'm happy with my life here; so what is wrong with you?
I'm the uncoolest kid on the block
I'm the uncoolest kids on the block!
I don't take pictures of my food to put on Instagram
Instead I'll eat a private meal, and leave the filters off my ham!
I'm the uncoolest kid on the block!
All of you stop telling me how to live my life
I don't want eucalyptus oil or a fancy kitchen knife!
I'm the uncoolest kid on the block!

Well it's half-past ten again, and I just got back from town
It feels like years now since my feet last touched the ground
I'm blown around like a falling leaf, I'm never standing still
I can't count the times I've walked this road, and how many more I will.
These crazy days are getting me down
Oh won't somebody, ooh, anybody take pity on me?
Well it's gotten to the point where I just leave my jacket on
I'll eat some dinner then I really must be gone
I don't know if I can take it, I'm hoping I'll survive
Caffeine and adrenaline are all that keep me alive.
These crazy days are getting me down
Oh won't somebody, ooh, anybody take pity on me?
When the sun goes down on another day, my night is just beginning
I'm not done, there's much more work to do!
These crazy days are getting me down
Oh won't somebody, ooh, anybody take pity on me?

Hey you, why do you say you want it all for nothing?
I know that if you want to have some more
Sometimes you've got to give up on something.
Something near and dear to you, maybe
Something you don't want to lose
I'm sorry that it works this way
But hey, that's the blues!
You know the way it is, life doesn't last forever
I know that you don't want to hear this, but
Sometimes you've got to give up on someone.
Someone near and dear to you, maybe
Someone you don't want to lose
I'm sorry that it works this way
But hey, that's the blues!
You're not listening to what I say
I can't show you a better way
You do your thing, you're on your own
I don't want to hear you moan!
Someone near and dear to you, maybe
Someone you don't want to lose
I'm sorry that it works this way
But hey, that's the blues!
And I gotta say, this ain't news!

I wonder where you are as I wander through the maze
Of life, that's what it is, in these chaotic days.
I think you're lost and gone, yet hope it isn't true
I've spent all my life searching the world for you!
I looked around, there was nobody there
I saw but a ghost of the past
A past I remember but soon will forget
My memory surely won't last.
The cold and brutal wind, it chills me to the bone
And makes me think about the fact I'm all alone.
I looked around, there was nobody there
I saw but a ghost of the past
A past I remember but soon will forget
My memory surely won't last.

I'm a watchdog, I can tell you 'bout the things I've seen
I'm a watchdog, I can tell you 'bout the things I've seen
It's a dog-eat-dog world right outside
You've got to fight dirty just to stay alive
I'm a watchdog, I can tell you 'bout the things I've seen!
I'm a hound dog, I know where all the bones are buried
I'm a hound dog, I know where all the bones are buried
It's a dog-eat-dog world right outside
You've got to fight dirty just to stay alive
I'm a hound dog, I know where all the bones are buried!
Who ate all the luncheon meat?
Oh, I swear it wasn't me!
And who tore up the flower bed?
You're barking up the wrong tree!
I'm a bulldog, I hang on 'til I drop
I'm a bulldog, I hang on 'til I drop
It's a dog-eat-dog world right outside
You've got to fight dirty just to stay alive
I'm a bulldog, I hang on 'til I drop!

I've got two tickets out of town
One single, one return
Later this evening, I'll be back again
But my baby will be gone.
We'll both be riding on that train
To say our last good-byes
When we are parted at the other end
She'll go her way, I'll go my mine.
I'm going to miss her when she's far away
I want her back here by my side
Maybe some day she'll come back again
For now, I'm lonely, and I'll cry.
I'll cry.....

Well, I thought I'd have a few more weeks with you
The captain didn't say we'd leave so soon
I can only say I'm sorry that I have to go
Blue Peter's got me down, and I don't want to leave you alone.
Why don't you come down to the dock with me
To say good-bye before I go to sea
The captain says we have to leave now to make the morning tide
Blue Peter's got me down, and I want to stay by your side.
Don't cry, I hope I will come back
And please remember, if we never meet again
To think of me when you look upon the sea.
Now I've gone I wish I had said more,
Many things I hadn't said before
The time has passed, I've missed the chance to say nothing but the truth
Blue Peter's got me down, and I want to get back to you.

I've stayed up late tonight, my mind is blank, I'm hoping for inspiration
I'm sitting at my window, looking past the rain, in search of melodies.
I want to write a song about the things I should have known a while ago
I don't have time or skill enough to put the words down on the paper.
But the rain on the roof keeps keeping me up, I'm trying to unwind
But I'm swiftly losing my patience, and I think I'm losing my mind.
My old guitar lies now forgotten on my bed, my thoughts are far away
A thousand words are floating all around, I reach but cannot touch them.
My clock is ticking out the rhythm of the minutes and the hours
If I could only sleep these things would look much better in the morning.
But the rain on the roof keeps keeping me up, I'm trying to unwind
But I'm swiftly losing my patience, and I think I'm losing my mind.
The rain is pounding down outside the walls and windows that are home to me
I hear its many voices crying in the storm, my voice is joining them.
But the rain on the roof keeps keeping me up, I'm trying to unwind
But I'm swiftly losing my patience, and I think I'm losing my mind.

I was walking the other day by the water
An inlet, an arm of the sea
And I saw, reflected in the water,
Trees, and they seemed to say to me:
You can't see us, we are not trees,
We are just dim reflections of the real thing.
I was driving the other day in the city
Looking at the buildings
And I saw, reflected in their windows,
The sky, and it seemed to say to me:
You can't see me, I am not real,
I'm just a dim reflection of the real thing.
I was singing the other day in the bathtub
Looking in the mirror
And I saw, reflected in its surface,
Me, and I seemed to say:
You can't see me, I am not real,
You're just a dim reflection of the real thing.
You can't see me, I am not real,
You're just a dim reflection of the real thing.

Next summer, when the sun comes out again,
Next summer, we're going to go down to the beach,
Next summer, the sky will be blue again,
Don't let next summer out of your reach!
Next summer, we'll get back on the road again,
Next summer, we'll go dancing every night,
Next summer, we'll sit 'round the fire again,
Don't let next summer out of your sight!
Don't let next summer out of your sight!
When times get rough, like right about now,
Just keep looking forward to
Next summer, when the clouds are far away,
Next summer, we'll make up for some lost time,
Next summer, we'll be looking at some better days,
I've got a feeling next summer's going to be fine!
