For today it still pains me to look at your note,
Like a crack on a well-loved guitar.
Your printing is rough, did you write with a trembling hand?

Did you sign it right there, walk down the stairs,
Leave me without realizing I care about you?

I loved you, I lost you, I let you down,
Didn't try, it just happened somehow.
You walked away, what could I do, what could I say?

Now you've left me alone with a scar on my heart,
That will never heal fully again.
