After the End

from Dark City Streets (EP) by End of Arden

lyrics

The note that you gave me still sits on your chair,
I can't bear to throw it away.
When I find time, I'll drop you a line, but not today.

For today it still pains me to look at your note,
Like a crack on a well-loved guitar.
Your printing is rough, did you write with a trembling hand?

Did you sign it right there, walk down the stairs,
Leave me without realizing I care about you?

I loved you, I lost you, I let you down,
Didn't try, it just happened somehow.
You walked away, what could I do, what could I say?

Now you've left me alone with a scar on my heart,
That will never heal fully again.
There's a cloud hanging over the place in the world where I stand.

Alone in the rain, feeling the pain,
Wishing that you would come back here again,
To tell me you're changing your mind.

I dreamed about you once again last night,
I woke, and you vanished in the morning light.

I wonder sometimes how you're doing right now,
Do you think about me the same way?
What we went through, I don't want to lose,
Though it hurts, after the end.
