The Ruins

from Yggdrasil by End of Arden

/

lyrics

I travel through an empty land
With cloak on back and sword in hand;
For many a month, I've walked the crags,
Seeking for the golden stag.

I left my homeland far behind,
As well as friends and men unkind;
I left them in a fit of pride,
And now I need them by my side.

The cold wind blows across the heath;
Stones stand tall like dragons' teeth.
Far away I hear the howl
Of a solitary wolf on the prowl.

I come to ruins standing tall:
A mighty keep before its fall.
Years ago, a war was fought;
Now all that's left are signs of rot.

Giants from the northern lands
Came and with their mighty hands
Tore the fortress to the ground:
Great and terrible was the sound.
